Where is Basildon bus station and who runs the buses?

Basildon bus station sits in the town centre in Southernhay, close to Market Pavement, and it is the hub for most bus journeys in and out of the borough. The main operator is First Essex, which runs the local Basildon shuttles as well as the longer routes to Southend, Chelmsford and Lakeside. Which buses go to Southend, Chelmsford, Billericay and Wickford?

First's route maps page describes route 25 as Basildon, Wickford, Rayleigh, Eastwood and Southend, which makes it the bus to use if you are heading to Wickford or want a road route to Southend. Route 28 is listed as running Basildon, Westcliff, Leigh, Hadleigh, Pitsea and Southend. First's May 2026 service change notice says route 28 runs every 7 to 9 minutes on weekdays, every 9 to 10 minutes on Saturdays and every 12 to 15 minutes on Sundays, with a new overnight service from midnight to 4am, Monday to Saturday, from both Basildon and Southend. Those are the frequencies at the time of writing (September 2026), so check the current timetable before relying on them.

For Chelmsford and Billericay the route is the 300, published as Basildon, Billericay, Stock, Galleywood and Chelmsford. The same May 2026 notice says it keeps a 30-minute daytime frequency, with a revised Sunday timetable. If you are heading to Brentwood or London-bound connections on the road, route 351 was extended from 26 July 2026 beyond Warley to Basildon and Basildon Hospital via Warley Street and the A127, running hourly on weekdays and Saturdays according to First's July 2026 service changes page.

Which buses serve Pitsea, Laindon and Langdon Hills?

Route 22 runs from Basildon through Pitsea and Benfleet to Canvey, and First's May 2026 notice puts it at every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes at weekends. Route 1A is listed as Basildon to Pitsea Tesco. The local South Essex shuttles are numbered B1 to B6. Per First's July 2026 notice, B1 was extended to Harold Wood Station and runs every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes at weekends, B2 keeps a 20-minute weekday frequency, and a new B6 runs hourly, Monday to Saturday, between Basildon Hospital, Basildon and Laindon Centre via Laindon Link, Hatterill and Langdon Hills.
