Fryerns

A central New Town residential neighbourhood north-east of Basildon town centre, next to Gloucester Park.

Fryerns is a central residential neighbourhood of Basildon, immediately north-east of the town centre. One of the earliest parts of the New Town to be built, it is characterised by 1950s and 60s housing laid out around greens and pedestrian paths in the Radburn style typical of Basildon's early development.

The neighbourhood has its own local shopping parade and community facilities, and is within easy walking distance of the town centre, the market and Gloucester Park. Council offices and civic buildings in the Fryerns area have long served the surrounding community.

Fryerns is bordered by Gloucester Park to the south, giving residents quick access to one of the town's main areas of open space and sports facilities.
