Market trading is part of the fabric of Basildon, and the borough runs markets that have served the town for decades.

Pitsea Market

Pitsea Market, at Northlands Pavement in Pitsea, is one of the biggest open-air markets in Essex. Traders sell fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, household goods, clothing, fabrics and much more. It draws shoppers from across south Essex and is a focal point for the Pitsea community.

Town-centre trading

Basildon town centre has also hosted market trading within its pedestrianised precinct, adding to the offer around the Eastgate Shopping Centre and Town Square.

Opening days and stalls

Market days, opening times and information for anyone wanting to book a stall are published and managed by Basildon Borough Council. Because market days can change, it is always worth checking the council's markets page before you travel.

Getting to Pitsea Market

Pitsea railway station, on the c2c line, is a short distance from the market, with direct trains from London Fenchurch Street and Southend. There is parking nearby for drivers.
